Galloway, N.J. – The meaningful, fulfilling and lasting connections that ������Ƶ students have made with their faculty and staff were on display during Nov. 20’s annual Student Faculty and Staff Dinner, a tradition that has endured for over 40 years.

In addition to an evening of good food and camaraderie, the program featured heartfelt speeches by members of the ������Ƶ community.

Students Najmah Laing and Justin Mann provided welcome remarks, praising faculty and staff for the care and dedication they have for the students they educate and inspire and the bonds they have created across campus.

“Each of you plays a vital role in creating the environment that makes ������Ƶ more than a university; it makes us a community,” Laing, a student senator, said.

“We are here to celebrate the dedication, creativity and compassion that each of you brings to our community,” said Mann, president of the .

During her remarks, ������Ƶ Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff Terricita Sass acknowledged the interconnectedness of the campus and the impact of having a support system as both a student and a faculty or staff member.

“Everyone here was invited because someone took the time to say, ‘You made a difference for me.’ This simple acknowledgement reflects the very best of ������Ƶ,” Sass said. 

“We know that students thrive when they feel supported, challenged and encouraged, and, as faculty and staff, we receive something from all of you: we get inspired by all you do. We can serve as your mentors, but when we walk alongside you, you teach us things as well,” she continued. “This evening is a reminder that learning is always about growth, and it is always reciprocal.”

Following an engaging keynote by Marcia Bronstein of the nonprofit Bridge of Faith and a musical performance by first-year major Satya Byers, the recipients of this year’s Faculty & Staff of the Year Awards were announced.

Student Senator Mia Torres presented the staff award to Sara Faurot, director of Alumni Relations, and shared her nomination with the audience.

“Her impact is woven into every corner of our community, and according to her nomination, she lives ������Ƶ’s values out loud,” Torres said of Faurot. “She has used her thoughtfulness and creativity to make our campus feel more connected, bringing a new life to alumni engagement.”

������Ƶ Hillel president Taryn Megronigle presented the faculty award to Assistant Professor of Marcia Fiedler.

“One student who nominated her wrote, ‘I have never had a professor make me feel as comfortable, supported and understood as she has,’” Megronigle said of Fielder. “’She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure her students feel valued and capable, making her an outstanding candidate for this award.’”
