A study led by Professors Jess Bonnan-White, Elizabeth B. Erbaugh, Alysia M. Mastrangelo,
William McKnight, Richard Mulvihill and Christine Tartaro has been recently published
in the Journal of Community Safety & Well-Being (CSWB), Volume 10, N0. 2
The study is part of an interdisciplinary research project that started in 2018 to
examine the root causes of the conflict between the police and the public.This latest
study examined the level of trust held by police compared to that of the community.

Psychology Faculty and Students Present at the 2025 APA Division 45 Conference
Professor Nordia Scott, along with Professor Kaite Yang and Professor Zornitsa Kalibatseva, had a remarkable presence at the 8th Biennial APA Division 45 Research Conference last July.
Professor Nordia Scott chaired, authored and co-authored three presentations. She chaired a symposium titled Pedagogical Considerations for Diverse Students: Exploring Racial Attitudes, Belonging & Climate. Professors Kalibatseva, Scott and Yang also presented alongside Professor Milton Fuentes from Montclair State University. Their presentations examined topics such as racial and ethnic identity, campus climate and attitudes towards race, mental health of US college students, and strategies to improve academic outcomes of minority college students. Furthremore, Professor Scott co-led a presentation with Professor Ashlee Barnes-Lee from Michigan State University entitled Race and Racism Education Across the Curriculum: Exploring its Impacts Across Race and Gender.
Psychology student, Dora Kara, had the invaluable opportunity to co-present with Professor Kalibatseva at the symposium, while Mikaili Philbert co-authored a poster presentation with Professor Scott.
The American Psychological Association Division 45 supports research on minoritized communities.The conference was held July 23-25, 2025 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.

Another Successful Summer CSI Camp has just concluded
For 19 years, 淫性视频's CSI Summer Camp has offered high school students, who come from various U.S regions and sometimes beyond, with exciting hands-on experience with criminal investigation and trial.The Camp has provided these young campers with opportunities to sharpen their critical thinking and problem solving skills. It has also been a wonderful opportunity to have fun and make some new friends.
Three camps were planned this year (2025). One from July 6th to the 10th, the second from July 13th to the 17th, and the last one from July 20th to the 24th. In each camp, the young campers had to investigate a separate murder case.

On Monday, April 28th, graduate students presented their final research and capstone projects at the annual Graduate Research Symposium. The event is a celebration of 淫性视频's student scholars, their hard work, dedication and commitment to academic excellence. It is also an acknowledgement of the devotion of 淫性视频 faculty who served as advisors, mentors and cheerleaders for these students by sharing their passion for research and expertise in the subject matter.
SOBL was well represented by the excellent and interesting presentations of five graduate students:
- From the MA in Counseling program, three students had their poster presentations : Gabrielle Friel and Trinity Meads who were both mentored by Dr. Erin Sappio, and Ashley Valentino who was mentored by Dr. Kate Worley.
- From the MA in Criminal Justice program, Abigail S. Jacobo and Madison Nagel presented their research project which was supervised and guided by both Dr. Christine Tartaro and Dr. Kimberley Schanz.
We are so proud of the work that these SOBL students have put into their research projects, and we are very appreciative of the mentorship of our SOBL faculty who generously shared their knowledge, their research expertise and their passion for academic excellence.

BCWEP 20th Annual Recognition Ceremony
It was in 2005 that a consortium was formed between 淫性视频's Child Welfare Education Institute (CWEI) and several other higher education institutions. The program was established in an effort to help recruit, prepare and support the next generation of social workers.
At the event, the program alumni described how the program was instrumental in preparing them to take on the challenges of child welfare social work and supplying them with the tools and support they need to persist and thrive as child welfare social workers.

A Very Unique Partnership With Police To Analyze Community Interactions
Criminal Justice Professor Bonnan-White has worked this past year with Sergeant Craig Clayton, from the Hamilton Township Police Department and a 淫性视频 Alum, on a quantitative study of how community members and local police interact.
The goal of the parnership is to help develop data-informed policing policies and straegies.The project has offered Criminal Justice students opportunities for real-world application of the policing theories they learn about in the classroom. The project aims at forging strong relationships among 淫性视频, the community and the police.

Spring 2025 Criminal Justice Career Series
Representatives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office included Chief Assistant Prosecutor Erika Halayko, Detective Nina Mitchel, Forensic Nurse Sarah McGaffney, and Victim Advocate Keri Roberts. The panelists shared information about their career trajectory, and they addressed questions about the challenges women may face in the field. The questions were asked by Criminal Justice Professor Kim Schanz, Dean Marissa Levy, and two criminal justice students: Violet Vogel and Danielle Sharra.
The event was a great opportunity for 淫性视频 students to connect with women criminal justice practitioners and to learn from their experiences to help them pave their career pathway as future leaders in the field of criminal justice.
The event is part of an annual collaboration that the Criminal justice Career Series has had with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Starting September 2025, the Criminal Justice program will be offering a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.The current Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice will be transitioned out as current students graduate.

Payton's major is Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. Her study is focused on sexual assault and help-seeking.

New SCOSA Professional Training Program Starts March 2025

Faculty from the Community-Based Social Research Collaborative (CBSRC) were invited this year to Governor Murphy's Holiday Party at Drumthwacket, the Governor鈥檚 official residence in Princeton.
CBSRC faculty and researchers have worked closely with the NJ Office of the . Betsy Erbaugh, Christina Jackson, Alysia Mastrangelo and Sreelekha Prakash have been working with NJ Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Authority on research and perinatal workforce development to improve maternal and infant health.

CWEI Was Present At Drumthwacket Holiday Party
Child Welfare Education Institute (CWEI) staff were invited this year to Governor Murphy's Holiday party at Drumthwacket,
the Governor's residence in Princeton.
The invitation was a token of appreciation for the team's immense and meticulous coordination
of all the logistics for Lady Tammy Murphy's 7th Annual Nurture NJ Leadership Summit, which took place on December 9th.

SCOSA Blue Zones Donations
Each week, the has hosted a Blue Zones:Living to 100 program, with Peppy Margolis and Gina Maguire as hosts. In January 2025, we will begin the program. One of the tenets of the Blue Zones is working together and volunteering. The group decided to personally make donations to the 淫性视频 Food Pantry to assist students who have food insecurity, specifically those who remain on Campus during winter break.
On December 16th, from just 14 generous people, pictured on the right what the group collected, donated, and delivered to the Dean of Students' Office. The donations included 20 full, plant-based meals (with attached Blue Zones friendly recipe) and healthy snacks in SCOSA Backpacks.
The Blue Zones group plans to continue to assist and support the 淫性视频 Food Pantries; to get involved, please reach out to Gina Maguire (gina.maguire@stockton.edu).

Psychology Alumna Published Her First Study
Kristen M. Fleming, Psychology Alumna, recently published her first study. The publication is based on her senior year project for distinction entitled Race/Ethnicity, Acculturation, Mental Health Stigma, and Counseling Use among U.S. College Students. She completed her project for distinction under the mentorship of Dr. Zornitsa Kalibatseva, Associate Professor of Psychology. Her distinction project committee also included Psychology faculty members Dr. Kaite Yang and Dr. Justin Ostrofsky.
The study examined racial/ethnic differences in mental health stigma along with the role of race/ethnicity, mental health stigma and acculturation in the use of counseling among U.S. college students.
Kristen graduated from 淫性视频 in Spring 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a concentration in Empirical Research. She currently works as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania in the Neurology Department.

Class Field Trip that Celebrates and Fosters Respect for Indigenous Cultures
In his efforts to foster cultural sensitivity in 淫性视频 students, Political
Science Professor Michael S . Rodriguez took his "Race & Politics " class on a field trip to 淫性视频's Art Gallery to explore and learn about the
indigenous culture highlighted at 淫性视频's new art exhibition entitled "Indigenous Approaches, Sustainable Futures."
The professor and his students thought that the exhibition was exceptional, and they
thought that Ryan Casey, the Art Gallery Exhibition Coordinator, provided a highly
informative tour. Students were very grateful for the Coordinator's expertise on the
subject, and for the guidance and insights they acquired throughout this experience.

Let Your Voice Be Heard: Vote!
淫性视频 university and its students have been engaged in promoting voter registration
and ensuring students are informed and have the resources to successfully vote in
the upcoming elections. These effors are led by American Democracy Project (ADP),
an initiative of the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy.
Every year, the project holds a voter registration drive. This year's drive was last
Thursday, September 26th, during which students expressed their varied reasons for
voting from having one's voice heard and make a change to representing others in one's
community who can't vote.
Further means used to ensure students received voting information and resources was
through the art exhibit displayed by the nonpartisan community organization (ATV). Political Science major Sarah Cirillo's art submission was selected as part
of the exhibit.

Spinella and Unsworth Granted 淫性视频's 2025 REU Award
Spinella and Unsworth will work together on a research project that will look at the effects of psychedelic drugs, such as when used for the treatment of depression and anxiety. The research will focus on the role of psychological strengths in how people navigate their psychedelic experiences.

EPJETS Team Was At the Atlantic City Police Expo 2024
The Police Security Expo has been hosted in Atlantic City since 1987, and this year's expo was held on June 25th and June 26th at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The expo showcases products, goods, and services for security professionals and law enforcement. The team attended the Police Security Expo 2024 as an exhibitor. The main goals of the EPJETS project are to enhance citizens鈥 trust in the police, compliance with the law, and perceptions about traffic stops. The protocol developed in partnership with Atlantic City and Pleasantville police departments includes using traffic crash data analysis to deploy officers at high-risk locations for speeding enforcement, and communicating with drivers the purpose of the traffic stops in a procedurally just manner.
The team led by Dr. Nusret Sahin spoke with practitioners about the project, explained
how the research project was conducted, and shared the findings. James Sarkos, Chief
of the Atlantic City Police Department, also visited the booth and posted about his
visit on his social media account, "Stop by and learn about the EPJETS program and
the innovative work they are doing. ACPD was proud to be a partner with this endeavor
along with Pleasantville Police Department"

Besides teaching and chairing the Political Science program, Dr. Zapille co-facilitated 淫性视频's Critical Thinking Institute, coordinated the Diplomacy Lab and served as the faculty advisor for Model United Nations. Poster by Anthropology Program Alum Wins Third Place
Lindsey Collins, who graduated last spring 2024 with a degree in Sociology & Anthropology and concentration in Archaeology, took part in the Student Poster Competition at this year's New Jersey History and Historic Preservation Conference.Out of eight entries, her poster won third place.
Her poster was based on the independent study coursework she did at the Museum of Cape May County, under the direction of Dr. Hornbeck, Teaching Specialist of Anthropology.

2024 CSI Summer Camp Enters its 18th Year
Every summer, the program offers four camps. Each camp treats a different murder case. To solve the case, the participants go through the various stages of investigation from collecting evidence to preparing the case for trial.They work with and hear from Ph.D. criminal justice professors and researchers as well as field practitioners such as law enforcement and corrections officers, lawyers, medical examiners and many more.
This summer, the program expects over 140 campers coming from various U.S regions and beyond. Below is a glimpse of some of the fun and exciting events planned for this summer's camps:
- A Trip to National Transportation Security Administration Training Center
- Trip to Atlantic County Jail
- Trip to a morgue
- A number of exciting speakers

Political Science Alum Presented Research and Was Featured on NetZero Insider
Dylan Irmiere, a Political Science alum and a fellow of the Wind Institute, had the invaluable opportunity to present at the his research around offshore wind projects. Dylan's advisor throughout this research was Dr. Tina Zapille, Associate Professor of Political Science.
His presentation and the thought-provoking results of his research caught the attention of one of journalists, Hugh Morley. Last April, the latter published an article that discussed the issues raised at the symposium regarding New Jersey's project of creating an offshore power center. The article highlighted some of Dylan's research data that focused on people's opinions about the project.
Dylan is also working on submitting detailed results of his research for peer-review and publication.

MACJ Student Awarded the 2024 Michael Israel Graduate Student Scholarship
Blake Cronin, MACJ student, is one of the recipients of the 2024 The scholarship is a highly distinguished award that The Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences () grants to students who are pursuing a graduate degree in criminal justice and criminology, who have excellent academic records, and who are making noticeable contribution to the field of criminal justice.
Blake's excellent academic background, his invaluable internship at the Ocean County Prosecutor's office, his service in the US Army as a military police officer, and Dr. Jessica Bonnan-White's (one of his professors) strong endorsement made his application for the scholarship a win.
The scholarship includes a $250 award, one night stay at the in June, and a full year to NEACJS.

Rutgers University, 淫性视频, Mercer County Community College, The College of New Jersey and Thomas Edison University will lead the Higher Education consortium at Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Center in Trenton (MIHIC), which includes degree and certificate programs, on-job training opportunities, maternal and infant health research, student support services.
Professors Betsy Erbaugh, Christina Jackson, Alysia Mastrangelo and Sreelekha Prakash represent 淫性视频 at this consortium as researchers as part of our Community Based-Social Research Collaborative (CBSRC) intiative.

Dr. Janice Joseph Recipient of ACJS Presidential Commendation Award
Dr. Janice Joseph, distinguished professor of Criminal Justice, received last March the Presidential Commendation Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS).It is one of the many awards Dr. Joseph has received from ACJS in recognization of her invaluable contribution to this international criminal justice organization.

Dr. Sahin Shares Insightful Study Results at The 2024 Carolinas Crime Analysis Association Training Conference
Dr. Sahin, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, leads the EPJETS (Enhancing Procedural Justness of Encounters Through Substantiation) project, which is one of the National Institute of Justice research projects.The
project is a partnership among 淫性视频, the Atlantic City Police Department
and the Pleasantville Police Department. It introduces and tests groundbreaking data
driven policing practices that aim at improving citizens' perception of and relation
with the police, with a specific emphasis on the critical context of traffic stops.
This innovative research project introduces a pioneering interaction protocol featuring
geospatial evidence presentation, cautioning drivers about high-risk areas for traffic
incidents.The protocol also incorporates video recordings, which drivers can access
for a fair assessment of law enforcement procedures. The goal is to foster more transparency
and promote more trust.
Dr. Sahin presented the findings of his research at the Carolinas Crime Analyst Association鈥檚
Conference in Charleston, SC on February 29, 2024.His presentation took place at the historic Best Friend Train Museum in Downtown Charleston.
He was able to highlight how RTM Simsi, a Risk Terrain Modeling software, can effectively inform drivers about high-risk
crash locations and contribute to achieving procedurally just traffic stops.Crime
analysts in attendance asked multiple questions about the possible application of
the concept in other types of police-citizen interaction. Some posted their insights
about the EPJETS Model on their social media accounts following the event.
Established in 2020, the Carolinas Crime Analysis Association (CCAA) stands as a regional
force in crime analysis, uniting professionals in the field. This year鈥檚 conference
attracted more than 150 attendees from the Carolinas including practitioners, researchers,
and students.

SU Faculty Will Participate in The 2024 NYU FRN Winter program
Eight 淫性视频 faculty have been accepted to participate in the 2024 Faculty
Resource Network (FRN) Winter Seminar. The faculty accepted represent different Schools
of 淫性视频. Professor Michael Rodriguez and Ms. Hilda Rivera Rodriguez
will represent SOBL.
The 2024 FRN Winter seminar will be hosted on the campus of Universidad del Sagrado
Coraz贸n (University of the Sacred Heart) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from January 8th
to 12th of 2024.
